Summary: Terrific book on improving your pitch win rate.
Comment: I was given Perfect Pitch by one of my advertising agency clients. It is the best book on the topic that I have ever read. In my line of work, all I do is work with agencies during the pitch process and I found Jon's book to be insightful and an easy read.

Summary: Solid guidebook to making a perfect presentation
Comment: This book about making effective presentations is markedly different from many others. This personal account, complete with stories from the advertising business, shows what makes a presentation successful. Author Jon Steel is a self-proclaimed iconoclast who did well in the ad business. He uses examples from the O.J. Simpson trial, advertising competitions and London's pitch to host the 2012 Olympics. (The city won and the story behind the contest is compelling.) Steel's suggestions can help you break the mold that constrains your presentations. getAbstract finds this book practical for anyone who wants a new perspective on developing presentations. People in advertising will find it especially enjoyable and useful.

Summary: I'm in love with Perfect Pitch
Comment: Jon Steel is a fine writer and a brilliant salesman. If you read this and make notations carefully you will realize in it how to be a better ad writer, a better sales-person, and a better speaker, lecturer, or teacher. You'll also hear from a thinking man, "Wake up and use the brains God gave you!" Thank you and thank you again Jon Steel for a wonderful book. I would be honored to work with you. Everyone in the ad, sales, and promotion business should buy this book, and make an hour of leisure time every day for a while to read it, think through it, and make margin notes. The secrets of changing your own work (and income) from mediocrity to excellence are hidden here.

Summary: Creative Thinkerer
Comment: It's a hard book to pigeonhole, as you can tell from the other reviews. It's quite applicable to people in agency life, but it's by no means an ad-person's book. If your life involves coming up with creative ideas and convincing other people to buy into them, it's very worth your time. Yeah, there are some tangents, most are diversions to make a point. Every 10-15 pages I tagged things I want to return to later to put to use. Lots of good thought-starters about what to do (and perhaps more importantly what to leave out) to get people excited about your ideas.

Summary: The Art of Presenting to People
Comment: Advertising is a people business, I guess, so is canabalism. This book centres you back to the concept that presenting is persuading, selling and entertaining. Do your homework, prepare and enlighten. I use to work in advertising, but now sell jobs for the army. I have taken what he has expressed on board and used to my advantage. I no longer present by 'Death by Light Pro', but engage my audience and use Jon Steels suggestions to help my candidates make informed decissions. Thank you Mr Steel. I reconmend this book for all in business.
